On my way back from the grocery store (veggie patties, sour cream, batteries: total $8.50) I took a half an hour detour to a nearby thrift store I hadn't been to for a while. I scored a super soft 100% merino wool cardigan from J Crew and a skirt from Gap, both a sweet shade of blue (total: $13).

On the store's new-with-tags rack I spotted a Luella for Target blazer, the red navy and white striped one. The original Target price had been $39.99, then marked down to $9.99. The thrift store was selling it for... $30. Now they are not a charity, so it must be a profitable business flying bagfuls of second-hand clothing over from the US* and selling it here. With fuel prices being what they are, and ever rising, I wonder for how much longer though.
* All their stock is from the US, unlike most thrift stores here which sell used clothing mainly from the Scandinavian countries, and a smaller handful whose stock consists mostly of UK brands.
